Monumento Glória Imortal aos Fundadores de São Paulo - Eternal Glory to the founders of São Paulo Monument

Localizado no Páteo do Colégio, é uma obra do escultor italiano Amedeo Zani. Foi instalado em 11 de junho de 1925. Com 25,85 metros de altura, o monumento apresenta uma figura feminina, que simboliza a cidade, tendo nas suas mãos um ramo de louros, uma foice e uma tocha, representando a glória, o trabalho e o fogo simbólico da região e da cultura.A parte central é decorada por pequenos grupos de figuras ocupadas em preparar o solo, fundar alicerces e carregar materiais. São também retratadas cenas do início da colonização: a primeira missa, a catequese, a defesa da vila pelo índio Tibiriça e a Guerra dos Tamoios.




Located in the Páteo do Colégio, it`s a work of the italian sculptor Amedeo Zani. It was installed on 11th June 1925. With 25,85 meters high, the monument shows a feminine figure, that represents the city, holding in her hands an laurel wreath, a sickle and a torch, representing glory, work and the symbolic fire of region and culture. The central part is decorated with small groups of figures occupied in prepare the soil, establish foundations and carry materials. Scenes from the beggining of the colonization are also represented: the first mass, the catechesis, the defence of the village by the native Tibiriça and the War of Tamoios.
